Fils du chanteur sénégalais Thione Seck, le jeune artiste ne séduit pas les fans de son père, mais la nouvelle génération, celle qui a très peu connu le patriarche. Né le 27 avril 1985 à Dakar, Wally a d’abord envisagé une carrière dans le foot en France, à Londres et en Italie. Si cette carrière n’a jamais vraiment décollé, Wally a commencé la musique dans le groupe Raam Daan au Sénégal. Tout est allé très vite ensuite pour le jeune homme formé par son père, qui est aussi son mentor.
Il n’a peur de rien et provoque sans cesse. Pour Fatim O’, une journaliste culture du Groupe Futur Médias, Wally Ballago Seck est le "Justin Bieber sénégalais". Son succès, il le doit à sa notoriété et à son statut de show man, à l’image des stars américaines auxquelles il s’identifie sans cesse.
En février 2011, Wally faisait partie des 5 artistes nominés au Sunu Music Awards aux côtés de Viviane N'Dour et Didier Awadi. Le 4 septembre 2012, Wally sort son second album intitulé Louné (Tout). Un album de confirmation composé de 8 titres et qui lui permet d’aller à la rencontre de son public. Il y aborde généralement les thèmes de l’amour et valorise les griots sénégalais, une caste dont il est lui-même issu. Depuis, Wally B. Seck s'est imposé comme un des artistes majeurs de son pays, aux côtés d'un certain Youssou NDour et vise un essor international grâce à son prochain album "I Wanna Be Free" à paraitre en 2023.
